-

Jasher
(The Book of the Upright or Just). This book has been identified as the work of many Rabbis between 12th and 16th century. Due to occult teachings within it, it could not be the original Book of Jasher referenced by Joshua and Moses. Use it to see how Judaism has progressed. Although it did mention the names Jannes and Jambres as the 2 magicians who opposed Moses similar to 2 Timothy 3:8, other writings dated much earlier also mention one or both names, like the Damascus Document from the Dead Sea Scrolls and Pliny. The Book of Enoch references in the Bible
Josephus
(Fills in many gaps not found in Scriptures.) But beware, the writings may have been partially tainted:
1. Some critics say that the Church inserted the part about Jesus being the Son of God (Ref. Antiquities 18.3.3)
2. Bias towards Phariseeism. For example, Jesus' sect (the Way) was not included in his count of 4 major sects in Judaism. Whereas the New Testament provided ample evidence the Way was a sect of major influence (Ref. Acts 9:1-2; Acts 19:9,23; Acts 24:14, and the Dead Sea Scrolls community).
3. There were errors in his writings, probably due to the sources which he draws from. For example, his list of the kings ruling the Babylonian empire between Nebuchadnezzar and Belshazzar was missing several kings according to some modern historians.

Dead Sea Scrolls
(Scripture library and Commune writings dated from about 3rd Century BC through 1st Century AD). Writings are in Paleo Hebrew, Modern Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek. Some scholars have mistaken the Commune to be of the Essenes Sect. The Commune identified themselves as Sons of Light, not as Essenes. According to rules of the community, you cannot join unless you are a follower of the Way, and their mission is to fulfil the role of "A Voice crying in wilderness, make straight the way of the Lord" (Ref. Isaiah 40:3)
The Essene Sect’s headquarter was located on the hill above Ein Gedi, as Pliny the Elder had described (below them is Ein Gedi), not 25 miles north of En Gedi, passing many other cities in between, to where the Commune is located. The name Qumran (Arabic word for Cresent Moon) is currently ascribed to this Commune. Origen, a Christian theologian in the late 2nd Century AD, ascribed Bethany beyond the Jordan mentioned in John 1:28 as Bethabara. A Mosaic map in the Arab city Madala dated to the 6th Century AD showed Bethabara on the west side of the Jordan River and just southward beyond the Jordan Valley in the Wilderness of Judea. The Greek city names Bethabara and Betharabah are the same and comes from the Hebrew name Beth-Arabah, as translated in Joshua 18:18 and 18:22 in the Greek Septuagint. The links between this community and John the Baptist and Jesus are very strong, based on the writings of the Commune. Jesus may very well be the Teacher of Righteousness that got executed as recorded by the community, since he spent some time at Bethany beyond the Jordan in John 10:40.
